ACT LOCALLY - ENGAGE GLOBALLY
Organ Bike by Matthew Mazzotta in Chicago, IL

An organ found in the garbage becomes the handle bars for the organ bike. The AC fan inside the organ was replaced by a DC fan and small generator on the back wheel, so that the faster the rider pedals the louder the organ plays. A small wooden structure painted with silhouettes of people gathered together on the facade.

Organ Bike was created in response to the idea of community being a unifying element of a city. As much as a community can provide the feeling that 'everyone is invited' it also has the ability to limit who can join in. In this way, community can be a force that limits people experience of the places they live.
